“I create abstract works consisting of fields of color and pattern by layering materials such as, india ink, chalk pastel, marker, various paints, paper and polycrylic resulting in mixed media paintings and assemblages. Within my work I explore relationships between layers of spontaneous and deliberate application of these materials, as well as the interplay of spontaneous pattern building and definitive linear elements, to create systems and shapes that bring balance and connection to the numerous, coexisting fields. I draw inspiration from the vast and various systems all around us that shape all things and seek to achieve a similar harmony within my work. I hope to encourage a deeper understanding and thoughtfulness to our place within the vast interconnectedness of all things by exploring interactions of materials, systems, and connections in this way.”
